LOWER THAN AVERAGE PRIMARY C-SECTION RATE
Rome Memorial Hospital has consistently had a lower than national average Primary C-section rate for many years. In 2012, a leading national consumer magazine ranked Rome Memorial Hospital the best in New York State for having a low Primary C-section rate for mothers who anticipate a low risk delivery. The rate in 2012 was 5.7%, the lowest of the 20 hospitals in the region. In 2013 the rate was 8.5% and 11.1% in 2014. This is far below the national average of 27% for primary cesarean sections according to the CDC. Teamwork is the key component of the birthing philosophy here at Mohawk Valley Women's Health Associates and Rome Memorial Hospital. The doctors, nurses and patients all work together to facilitate the natural birthing process.
